Datz–Birthday Brunch

Well it’s that time of year again, and for that past few years, the only reason to look forward to my birthday is for where I’ll have my birthday dinner.  Don’t get me wrong, for those of you who know me, I don’t only eat out on my birthday.  I am out and about in Tampa’s restaurants 3 to 4 to 7 times a week, LOL, sometimes more.  Being a south Tampa resident, I have some really good places to choose from that are quite close to my home.

One of my favorites since the day it opened is Datz.  Located on south MacDill Ave, this place is never not crowded.  The food, atmosphere and energy this place exudes is addictive.  I have been known to wait over an hour to get in, and others say they’ve waited longer.  If you’ve not been to Datz, you definitely need to add it to your list of eateries.

I chose to go with the breakfast menu and had the “Red Velvet Pancakes”.  First I want to thank God for not allowing me to be a diabetic, because after eating these pancakes, I would have surely been in a coma.  Weird thing is, with each bite I took, they seemed to be decreasing in size more rapidly than they should have.  Then I saw what was happening.  Forks were coming from all over the table and “quality checking” my pancakes as they called it.  One of my favorite friends and foodies (Lisa) of course was checking out everyone else’s choices.  If she hasn’t had something on the menu (and that’s very rare for her), she will of course be taste tasting your meal.  Honestly folks, Lisa is my go to foodie in Tampa when I want to try something new or a different restaurant.  One text to her with and idea for dinner, and she is texting back immediately with a few choices and usually items to order.

So of course, I highly recommend you all check out Datz.  Believe me, once you’ve been, you’ll be hooked.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out the cheese and dessert counters before you leave.  But be careful, you can easily gain 10 lbs. just by looking at all their yummy desserts.
