Merry Christmas everyone. This is the time of year for all kinds of cookies and candies. I decided to combine my love of cookies and one of my all time favorite Christmas shows together. I am sure y’all have made crinkle cookies before. What I like about them is that they are so kid friendly. So these are perfect to make with your children or grandchildren (like I did last night) after watching “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”. So grab yourself just a few ingredients and your kids or grandbabies and whip up a new holiday tradition. (oh, don’t let the 3 year old get hold of the green food coloring, or you’ll have your own mini-Grinch on your hands. Yes, I found out the hard way.)
Ingredients
- 1 French vanilla cake mix (white will work as well)
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 8 tablespoons butter (1 stick) melted
- green food coloring (about 50 drops, depending on how green you want them)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- Green Crystal Sugar (you can make with sugar and 1 drop of food coloring if you can’t find in store.)
Baking Instructions
Blend cake mix along with the eggs, vanilla and butter till well combined.
Add food coloring and mix thoroughly.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. (this will keep them from spreading to much when baked)
Mix together powdered sugar and corn starch
Scoop dough out with small scoop or teaspoon, and roll in powdered sugar.
Place on prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Sprinkle with Green Sugar
Bake for 9-10 minutes. Let cool for a minute after baking on tray before moving to cooling rack.
