CHEDDAR BISCUITS

2013-08-10 17

These are one of my favorite drop biscuits to make.  They have just the right amount of bite from the cheddar cheese in contrast to the lightness of the biscuit itself.  Sometimes I like to add some chopped jalapeno peppers to give them a bit of a kick.  I hope y’all enjoy this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon  salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 heaping cup grated cheddar cheese (sharp is best, I use extra sharp for extra bite)
  • 1/2 – 2/3 cup buttermilk (I don’t usually need more than 1/2 a cup)
  1. In large bowl combine the flour, baking powder salt and garlic powder.
  2. Add the melted butter and cheese and mix well.
  3. Slowly add the buttermilk until all is mixed well and it is a sticky thick consistency.
  4. Drop by a tablespoon full on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake 12-18 minutes at 400 degrees until done and lightly browned on top.
