Y’all, this is one of my favorite throw together cakes.  There are just some recipes that you don’t have to do anything too to make better. This is my Southern Chess Squares.  Sometimes also known as Gooey Butter Cake thanks to my dear friend Paula Deen.  That girl has put so many spins on this dessert and every dang one of them is delicious as can be.  But growing up with southern roots, I came to know this as Southern Chess Squares.  It was so very popular at church socials and any get together in the south.  You all are going to get addicted to this cake and not be able to stop eating it.

• 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
• 1 cup melted butter
• 1 egg
• 1 cup chopped pecans
• 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
• 4 cups confectioners’ sugar (1  16ounce bag)
• 2 eggs
