Homemade Marinara Sauce
Y’all been asking for my Homemade Marinara Sauce so I thought I’d share it with you today. This is my go to, quick and easy Homemade Marinara Sauce. You can through this together on the stove or even in a slow cooker to simmer all day. Let me know what you think about this version and y’all enjoy.
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion diced small
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 3-4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 quart or 3 cans crushed or diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup red wine.
- Add the olive oil to a large sauce pan over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes
- Add spices and cook an additional 2-3 minutes to bloom the oils
- Now add the garlic and the tomato paste.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the tomato paste. Don’t burn the garlic.
- Add in the tomatoes and the red wine. Stir to combine.
- Cover and simmer over a low heat for 2-3 hours.
- Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.
- You can use an immersion/stick blender if you want your sauce more smooth.
