This is one of my all time favorite pies. It’s my old fashioned buttermilk pie. It originated back in the depression days when ingredients were hard to come by. My family in the Appalachian Mountains would make this pie because of that very reason too. They had very little and it was definately hard to come by fresh fruits, especially in the winter. So this pie came about as a dessert in those days. It is amazingly delicious with it’s creamy custardy texture and the almost crème Brule crisp top. Give it a try and let me know what y’all think. I just know you’re going to love it.
