Old Fashioned Milk Bread This is an old recipe I found in my aunt Bee’s recipe box. It is so simple and gives you some great tasting dinner rolls. Let me know what you think about her version and y’all enjoy.
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons yeast
1/2 stick warm butter
Egg wash:
1 egg
2 teaspoons milk
Mix the milk, egg, sugar and salt together in a large bowl
Add in the flour and yeast and mix together well.
Now mix into the flour mixture the warm butter.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight
Punch down place on floured board.
Flatten it down and divide into 12 pieces
Roll each section into a ball in the palms of your hands.
Cover and let rest for 10 minutes
Flatten each ball into a log and then roll up and place in 8×12 prepared dish
Cover for 30 minutes till double in size
Using 1 egg and 2 teaspoons milk make your egg wash and brush over rolls
Bake 20-25 minutes in a 350°F oven
Brush with melted butter when removed from oven.
