Hey y’all. I am doing research for traditional recipes that were found in the areas surrounding what is now the I-75 corridor. Did you or your family live anywhere along this path or within 50-100 miles and had a local recipe that could almost only be found in that region? Perhaps like the “pasties” that were found in Michigan, or “Johnny Marzetti” that originated in Columbus Ohio, or even “Dried Apple Stack Cake” found in the Appalachian areas of Kentucky and Tennessee? Please share with me these recipes and especially stories of its origin and how it came to your area or family. Maybe it was a dish you had at a local diner or such in your hometown. Kentucky – Cornbread and Pinto Beans. I know this is simple, but it was such a part of our weekly meals. I can remember mamma making them at least once or twice a week because it was an inexpensive meal and we could have leftovers from it too.
I’m from northern Ohio area and one of my favorites growing up was called Shoe Fly Pie. It was popular around here. I know you can find plenty of recipes for it on the google.
